Assess a site before work begins

Overview

Evaluate and prepare for work sites prior to commencing work activities. Site pre-assessments are particularly beneficial for small to medium businesses and contractors who need to conduct a thorough assessment of a site before initiating work. Identify and mitigate risks proactively, promoting a safe and compliant work environment for everyone working on site.

Creating a Site Pre-assessment

  1. Login to SiteSmart

  2. Select resources on the side navigation

  3. Select "Site Pre-assessment".

  4. Select "Create New Assessment"

  5. Enter your site name and address

  6. Answer; does this site involve heights, overhead work, trenches, or confined spaces. This will tailor the assessment to your site.

  7. Select "Get Started" you will be returned to the landing page to see your created assessment.

  8. Click on the assessment - site name/address

  9. Follow each section and add details where applicable

  10. Answer the questions for each potential hazard. Where you answer 'yes' or 'maybe' you will be prompted to add what controls you will introduce for that hazard.

  11. Add any PPE required.

  12. Add any other site observations.

  13. Scroll down to view your Pre-start Assessment Report that can be used to debrief your workers.

  14. Scroll to the top of the page.

  15. Here you can download and export your pre-start assessment to carry out your pre-start and save in your files where required.
